2006-11-12 Remembrance Sunday
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
We went into Canterbury today to visit the War Memorials, and finally (after 6 years, in my case) get round to wandering up the Dane John Mound - the site of a Norman motte and bailey castle, and a roman burial mound.
The view from the top is impressive, but it's a shame about the chavs in the Dane John garden below - they were helpfully throwing flour around and kicking bottles of coke while we were there.
While at the war memorial in the Old Buttermarket, there were some eastern Europeans busking, playing on a guitar and an accordion and wailing very loudly. This does not make for a nice quiet visit on Remembrance Sunday.
