Disruption
So, I'd been hoping to get some development work done this week. Instead, the following has occurred:
Yesterday: We have a rack delivered, with 20 minutes notice, instead of the expected 24 hours. The guy who came to survey the delivery route last week, said "yeah, we'll deliver it empty, so we can tip the rack through the doors". Said rack is (as expected) too tall to fit into the building without tipping. Rack is (unexpectedly) populated with equipment, so we can't tip it through doors, and nobody's qualified (or willing) to remove the equipment first. 120 wasted minutes later, rack is back on lorry and heading back to warehouse...
Just before lunchtime, we had a delivery of 26 new UPS batteries, ready for commissioning today...
Today: On getting to work, the UPS bloke has arrived early. He starts taking UPS to bits, unpacking batteries. 40 minutes later, I get a phone call. The batteries delivered yesterday are the wrong kind.
If that wasn't enough, 2 hard disks in users machines are suffering clicky death. One's completely dead, the other is copying the data off (very slowly and very noisily) which the user has helpfully been saving to the local drive rather that backed up network drives. It's ok, I wanted to spend the day rebuilding machines anyway....
There's still 2 days left to this week... Argh.
