Ubuntu eee / Easy Peasy netbook-launcher single instance change

After installing the latest ubuntu-eee/easy peasy updates, I found I could no longer launch multiple urxvt terminals from the netbook-launcher frontend. When I clicked on the icon to launch a new terminal, it would simply switch the previously started terminal to the front.

It turns out this is a new feature that changes the default behaviour called 'single instance' launching. Unfortunately, this was quietly deployed in an update, and there doesn't seem to be much documentation about it. The good news is that it's easy to work around. The easiest method is to middle click (or 2 finger tap on an eee) the icon - this will launch a new copy of the application instead of switching to the currently running one.

You can also disable this setting completely, and go back to the 'old' way. To do this, run the following command, either in a terminal, or by hitting alt+f2:

gconftool --type=boolean --set /apps/netbook-launcher/disable_single_instance true
